Hello to you all...
Everyone is talking about The Surf Screen's tour of The Present. Could this be the tipping point for a resurgence of interest in surf movies on the BIG screen?
(Photo) Check out Rasta on a Wegener Alaia board at Sunset, by Thomas Campbell.
A lot of the talk outback and onshore is down to the amazing suport we have been getting across the surfing media (A1surf.com, Carve, Drift, Stranger, Surfhog.com and Wavelength) and from parties such as; University College Falmouth, Finisterre, Revolver and The Original Surfboard Company, who really understand what we are trying to achieve. Thank you!
We did expect some interest, given that Thomas Campbell is one of the most highly celebrated surf movie makers of the last decade, but we did not expect calls from Eire, Italy, France, Portugal and Spain.
Word is out!
The summer is ramping up to be a classic, film fuelled stoke-fest, with a fantastic array of films, such as Jazz the Glass, Picaresque and Musica Surfica, but we also have other secret surprises in line for you all, so keep watching and make sure you sign up to our monthly email newsletter.
The Surf Screen really wants to engage everyone:
. We are interested to hear about screening ideas you may have, because sharing films to an appreciative audience is always much more fun for everyone.
. If you have made a film, know of a secret jem, or are thinking about making a surf movie and would like it exhibited, please get in touch. We have a lot of experience in producing and exhibiting work, be it long or short, we would like to help you make the best of your talent.
Please feel free to make comments on the BLOG, let us know what you think of our events, what you might want from future events and how we might all work together to enrich our shared surf culture.
Please post and we'll reply asap!
It will be great to see you there, thanks for your support, this film will blow your mind!

Hey, thanks for the kind words..
I have had a few heads up on ticket problems with St Ives. You need to phone the box office, when it is open to get tickets, which means calling (01736)796843 between 6 and 10pm, or going there in person. I know it's a bit of a pain, but, you know it will be worth it!
If you have not bought tickets, get some, no tears on the night if you can't get a seat, it's going to be busy!!!

"The whole experience was just like you read about in old surf movie books, everyone was feeding off the atmosphere, people were going nuts, screaming, hooting... so much fun!"

The whole thing, the venue, the presentation, the trailers and films made for such an epic night. The Life of Ply was beautiful and touching, at 80+ Dot is a legend. The Present, just blew minds, the alaia action was just so inspiring and the goofy surf contest was hilarious. The stuff that Tom Wegener is doing is superb and Jacob Stuth is my new role model. Thank you to everyone involved in organising this, I recommend attending the screenings, if you miss out, you'll regret it forever!!

Thanks so much for making the journey to Brighton on Saturday for the screening of The Present. I really enjoyed the film, and the short screenings before it. The Life of Ply was inspiring stuff! I think Dot's account of what surfing means to her is the most sincere and least pretentious justification for wave riding I have ever heard. The Sallis Benney theatre proved to be a great venue. I can really see the value of these small-scale screenings for the dedicated members of the local surfing community -

Had a great night in Falmouth watching The Present, was super excited beforehand and the film sure didn't disappoint! Absolutely stunning. Also loved the short film' The Life of Ply', what an inspirational lady Dot is, I sure hope that I am still stoked and surfing the waves in my 80's!! Keep up the cause, Selina

The alaia action in this film is so amazing, it's almost like a totally new type of surfing, so simple yet so complex in the range of maneuvers that can be performed. I loved the film, Thomas has struck gold with The Present, the crowds reaction says everything from screaming and laughing to complete silence during some of the west Africa scenes when Jacob rode his alaia from the onboard camera perspective.
Inspirational stuff, please keep it coming.

"The Present" Poole, Lighthouse...
Absolutely fantastic film.. Only found out about it at the last moment and got one of the last seats. Just so many "Wow !" moments. Thanks for the introduction and encouragement to express our enjoyment. Brilliant! Cutting edge, longboards, retro, new waves, humour, superb soundtrack and the worlds longest tube ride(?). ( May even leave my kayak and wave ski in the garage and use my board again!) Looking forward to the next screening. Many thanks.

We are just so stoked that you guys are so into The Present and The Surf Screen. Thomas C. and T. Wegs have been checking the comments and they are so happy that everyone is so into it.
We at The Surf Screen, really want to bring you more great independently made surf movie content on a regular basis, so please share the stoke with one and all. This is a grass roots movement, and you guys are the only folk who can make the vision a reality, sharing movies on the big screen, enriching out surf culture and firing the stoke.
Spread the word!
